About the General Knowledge teacher

My name is Sarah Slothouwer and I am the General knowledge teacher at Grove Primary School. I joined the school in Term 4, 2025 and am now the Grade 4B class teacher. It has been a privilege to become part of such a warm and supportive school community. 

I am passionate about GK because it encourages learners to explore the world around them, think critically, and make connections between classroom learning and real-life events. My aim is to help students become curious, informed and thoughtful individuals by developing their awareness of current affairs, arts and culture, the sciences, world history, and much more. I focus on developing learners' discussion, reasoning, independent thinking and team work skills so that learners can confidently express their ideas and grow into well-rounded and informed individuals.
