GK Outline for Term 2 2026
I am excited to continue building learners’ curiosity and general knowledge skills this term. GK sessions will focus on developing critical thinking, current affairs awareness, and teamwork through engaging discussions and quiz-style activities.
GK will continue to take place on a Tuesday at 07:10 every Tuesday morning. During these sessions, learners will be working towards preparing for the GK competitions, with a focus on building knowledge, confidence, and quiz skills.
GK Inter-Schools Competition:
Round 1 will take place on 8 May 2026 at Pinehurst. Due to space constraints, only one team per school will be entered, consisting of 6 members with a possible reserve. I will be selecting the team from Grades 5–7 learners. This is a valuable opportunity to build confidence, teamwork, and quick thinking.
I look forward to this exciting term of focused preparation and enthusiastic participation from the learners.
25 February 2026
Over the past few weeks in GK, we have explored a wider range of engaging topics, including global awareness, art, geography, science and sport. In global awareness, learners explore world leaders as well as current affairs, helping them expand their understanding of the global issues and events. In art, we looked at famous artworks and well-known artists, encouraging curiosity and appreciation for creativity. Our geography focus included global landmarks and country flags. In science, we revised key concepts such as the Earth, energy, forces and notable scientists. In sports, we discussed famous athletes and major sporting events, which sparked enthusiastic participation and discussion. Over the next few weeks, we look forward to exploring even more exciting topics across our GK themes.
Please encourage your children to continue building their general knowledge at home by reading regularly, researching topics that interest them, keeping up with age-appropriate current events, and playing general knowledge quiz games.
