Read about the birth of COGZ, and how he reminds us of our thinking skills.
Cogz is our Thinking School mascot. This cute chameleon is seen all around The Grove, reminding us to exercise thoughtful behaviours. Read more about Cogz here!
Every week, a class is assigned a theme and learners in that class will have the chance to have their redesigned Cogz Doodle published on the Parent Portal.Â
Thinking at The Grove: Growing Minds for a Sustainable Future
At The Grove, we are continuously striving towards encompassing Thinking Tools in our school —a place where thinking is not only encouraged but made visible, valued, and intentional. This approach transforms the way we teach and learn, shifting the focus from simply answering questions to confidently questioning the answers. By expanding our way of thinking, we hope to foster a culture where curiosity is celebrated and creative problem-solving is part of everyday learning.    Â
Making the thinking visible explains not only what we learn but how and why we learn it. Teaching thinking skills and using thinking tools enables children to understand the origins of their ideas. They are encouraged to choose tools that best suit their learning styles and help them grasp complex concepts.Â
There are 16 Habits of Mind which have been divided into all grades. Across the grades our learners are asked to create a circle map on which they define what the Habit of Mind means and what their understanding is of it. Â
